You asked for it! I am happy to announce my exciting workshop in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico! Join me April 6 – April 10, 2020 for Luminous Landscape Painting in Santa Fe with Lori McNee.
For years, I’ve been teaching abroad in Monet’s Garden, and France and now I’m so excited to lead a fabulous, luxurious workshop in glorious Santa Fe at the MISA-West Santa Fe Campus next April!
Madeline Island School of the Arts (MISA) is ranked among the top five art and craft schools in the country. The main school is located on Madeline Island, however we will be operating out of their spectacular Santa Fe location at the Hilton Historic Plaza.
In my painting retreat/workshop you will discover how to create luminous, dramatic, light-filled plein air paintings. During the week, I will reveal painting secrets to push your skills to the next level. You will learn the importance of thumbnail sketches, value studies. We will discuss how to create atmosphere, and the pros and cons of working with reference photographs. I’ll explain how to use your reference photos, plein air paintings and sketches to help you create larger studio works.
By the end of the week, you will grasp the interplay between warm and cool colors. This will help set the mood of your paintings. We will discuss how to build successful paintings with strong design and composition. You will also learn the use of edges, interesting brushwork and texture. In this fun class, you will explore simplified color mixing and gain a better understanding of how to organize your palette, and mix color.
I will also be available to answer your questions about water-mixable oil paints, blogging and social media branding or marketing questions!
The cost of the tuition is only $800 and lodging and meals are separate.
