American artist, Lori McNee lives in the beautiful Northern Rocky Mountains of Central Idaho where she derives much of her inspiration.

A native of California and reared in the southwest, Lori cultivated an interest in art and nature during her childhood.

As a child, Lori would save injured birds and nurse them back to health. Sometimes Lori would try to catch the birds that flocked to her family’s yard.  Out of frustration, she finally decided to capture the birds on paper with a pencil.

Lori began her art career as a wildlife artist in the 1980s-90s. During this time she mentored with renowned wildlife artists Robert Bateman, John Seerey-Lester, Carl Brenders, and Vivi Crandall. Lori illustrated for organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy, the Wolf Education Research Center, various trout and duck stamps, and books.

In 2000, Lori discovered plein air and still life painting. After studying with artists Robert Moore and Joe Anna Arnett, Lori made a shift from wildlife art to painting from life.

Today Lori’s broad spectrum of artwork includes poetic studio landscapes, plein air studies, still life and encaustic wax paintings which most often incorporate birds or other wildlife.

Lori’s paintings can be found in prestigious galleries and museums throughout the United States.
