I’m Judging the Northwest Lavender Paint Out! 💜🎨
This summer, I’ll be judging this year’s Northwest Lavender Paint Out, presented by the Willamette Valley Lavender Festival & Plein Air Art Show, running from June 9 to July 11. This event celebrates the beauty of the Pacific Northwest’s iconic lavender fields, where artists capture vibrant purple blooms set against stunning backdrops of rolling hills, rustic farms, and even snow-capped mountains.
On July 11, I’ll be at the Chehalem Cultural Center in Newberg, Oregon, to evaluate the incredible artwork created during the festival. With an estimated 200 to 400 paintings on display, my task will be to select 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, and six honorable mentions in both the professional and open categories—18 awards total! It’s always inspiring to see how each artist interprets the same landscape in their unique style.
If you’re in the area, I highly recommend checking out the exhibition. It’s not just for seasoned pros—this event is perfect for first-time plein air painters, and with so many participating lavender farms near world-class wineries, it’s truly a painter’s dream.

Can’t wait to see all the beautiful work in bloom!
