In order to be successful, we artists and other creatives need to be efficient with our time – online and off. Learning the best and worst times to post on social media helps us optimize our time.
The infographic below illustrates a guideline for the best and worst times to post on social media. Following these times will help our content reach more people and grow our online presence. Think about this: 48% of the US population runs of Eastern Standard Time (EST), 33% on Central Time (CST) and 14% on Pacific Time (PST). Read more: http://www.shopify.com/blog/5213662-why-timing-is-everything-with-social-media#ixzz2gJlszQJ9
Nevertheless, it is up to each individual social media user to fine-tune the ‘times’ within our own following. Understanding our following helps our social media strategy get optimum results.
I hope this infographic helps you save some precious time – now, let’s get off the computer back into our studios! 😉

This is great info Lori! I’ve always wondered what were the best times to post online, and never even considered that each avenue of social media may have its own unique peak times.
Glad this is useful to you Vanessa. Thanks for saying hello and let me know if this inforgraphic helps you with your target audience.
Lori 🙂
This is a very good guide, and I think it varies a bit depending on the industry, doesn’t it?
Hi Lucy! Yes, I would agree with you about the schedule depending upon which industry. That’s why I added that we all need to understand our own followings – that’s really the best way to optimize our online time.
Great seeing you.
Lori
Thank you Lori,
that is a really useful infographic. I have certainly been using the insights on my FB fan page just above the banner, by going into posts I click on “when your fans are online” to find the best time to post
Hello John, glad this infographic will come in handy for you. Thank you for adding your FB tip.
cheers,
Lori
A lot of this depends on your followers. For example, I have a lot of UK based followers. SOOO it is best for me to try and cover all the bases time-wise. I’m a night owl… so I always try to make a few posts manually OR schedule posts (if possible) that ‘fit’ different time zones based on my following. Social media is a 24 hour ‘world’. 🙂
Hey Brian, great to see you stop by again for a comment. Thanks for sharing your social media posting experience. I agree with ya! 🙂
And of course those of us on the other side of the world (Australia) use social media at very different times from you guys! Indeed, social media is used 24 hours a day.
Thanks for adding that important point! Sometimes Americans think they are the only ones using social media. I didn’t make the infographic, but found it helpful for the USA. Cheers
I was really surprised to read 48% of population runs on EST and only 14% on Pacific time. I also always wondered about the effectiveness of tweeting during the week versus the weekend and now, thanks to your piece, I know. Very timely info. Thanks.
Hi Lori, thanks for the info. Do you have specific stats for email open rates?
If so that would be great!
Hello Jon, you know…I don’t have those stats, but I will check into it. Thanks for asking and reading this post.
This definitely will depend on where one’s followers are located. I have lots of followers in Europe, they obviously won’t be checking my posts during our night hours.
I have actually noticed that number of views raises during the work hours, especially on FB, in my experience, weekends are never that great compared to other days. It’s pointed out correct that Pinterest is a bit distinctive, and weekends are good for adding some stuff, especially Saturdays. Due to other obligations, I never get to post on blog until late night, and it has its drawbacks. So far, any day between 7 pm to 11 pm has worked out the best on WordPress.
The worst part of blogging and posting on all sites (even though, they’re all linked and posting takes one click) is the huge consumption of time. I don’t like posting one sentence or two-sentence updates, and adding visual materials takes even more time because of editing, etc. If you are fine with that, I’d love to add your site to my links. I’m on WordPress, as well, just never got to website, it’s only 1 blog for now.
Great post pointing out some useful info, thanks!
Thank you for sharing your added points. I agree with you about Pinterest. It is a bit different and women especially love it, so Saturdays and evenings must be the best time for them. 🙂
Thank you Lori for this post, very useful. According to Matt Cutt infography link should be nofollow. Do you have an opinion about it?
What link are you referring to?? Thanks
Lori,
A great thanks for sharing this information. I am truly enjoying seeing your art, following you, and reading your blog.
My worst enemy, much like other artists is obviously marketing. Your posts make it more interesting. The resources and precise information you provide are notable. More remarkable than that is your interaction with your fans. Thank you kindly.
Other artist say my downfall is my diverse style of painting. I am unsure if those that tell me that are correct. I feel it sets me apart from other artists. I truly enjoy painting from a wide range of cultures. My passion is my emotions within my pieces. I am an ambidextrous whom love to use both hands simultaneously while oil painting. My mind often gets bored so focusing on one subject or media seems to me preposterous. I was born creative. My artistic ways aided in my survival during 2 years of hostage in a foreign country. Now back home in America my goal is to pull from the pain and paint into success. Any recommendations are highly appreciated.
Regards,
Angela Pari Dominic Chumroo
Hello Angela, wow thanks for sharing your story with me/us. I am grateful my marketing and social media tips are helpful to you. Yes, it is a great way to connect with other artists. Especially, if you are feeling lonely. I actually don’t have many artists in my area and have met so many online to visit with. Don’t get disappointed by the naysayers. Keep following your passion. I have a friend who paints with both hands. Check out http://www.rmoorefineart.com/ He is very talented. Maybe you will find some inspiration there. Also please read this article https://www.finearttips.com/2014/02/extracting-beauty-from-pain-through-art/ So many artists have experienced suffering. We are more sensitive to our world around us. I hope my thoughts have helped.
I hope this helps!
This is great info, Laurie. I am wondering if best-times for WordPress would be the same as Blogger?
Hello Jeni, I think the times are dependent upon your own local time more than what platform you are using. 🙂
Thank you Lori for putting this infographic together. It really hits home for me, as an artist, I’d love to spend more time creating and when I do write blogs and post videos to social media outlets, it is great to make sure people actually see them. This is very helpful.
Are these times supposed to be for the Eastern or Pacific time zone? Or is it just based on wherever one lives?
Great question! Use these times as a guide for whatever time zone you want to target. For example if you live on the east coast and want to target the Pacific time zone, you would post according to the Pacific times. 🙂
