This red fox painting had quite the journey!  It began LIVE during my Royal Talens NA Creator’s Studio interview and then was completed on Eric Rhoads’ PaintTube series — giving viewers a rare chance to follow the full creative arc from the first brushstroke to the final detail.

It was a joy to share my process in real time: from blocking in the initial forms to layering texture, refining detail, and bringing atmosphere to life using water-mixable oils. I loved demonstrating how I blend realism and abstraction to capture the spirit of wildlife, and viewers enjoyed watching this piece evolve across both sessions.

There’s something special about sharing the evolution of a painting as it happens — brushstroke by brushstroke, layer by layer. This red fox in a winter landscape came to life across two live demos, giving viewers a rare chance to follow the full journey from start to finish.

Whether you’re a fellow artist or just curious about the process behind wildlife painting, I hope you enjoy this behind-the-scenes look into how a single subject transforms over time. Please scroll down to watch the videos below…

Part 1: The Beginning

This painting started LIVE in my home studio during my Royal Talens NA Creator’s Studio interview. Watch as I block-in the underpainting, and basic composition using a limited palette with Cobra water-mixable oils.

Part 2: The Finish

The fox painting was completed during my PaintTube interview with Eric Rhoads. Click the video below to watch as I refine details, build depth, and add those final expressive touches.
